2 galleriesON 8 September 2012, undefeated WBA/WBC super-middleweight and World Showtime Super Six Boxing Classic champion, 2011 Boxer of the Year and 2004 Olympic gold medalist Andre “Son of God” Ward (26-0, 14 KOs) faced, dominated, and defeated WBC light heavyweight champion - and challenger - “Bad” Chad Dawson (31-2, 17 KOs) in the fight HBO billed as the Ward vs. Dawson – World Champions – “Made in America” “fight of the century!” The bout was televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT. Ward, the 4-1 favorite going into the fight, knocked Bad Chad to the canvas twice in a classic old school beat down, before sending him down for the 3rd time in a 10th round TKO. As most fight aficianados know by now, Andre Ward and his team are adept at scientifically assessing his opponents and finding the best ways to achieve success. If you recall, Muhammad Ali and his team did the same thing: They assessed to a fine degree what would and wouldn't work in the ring. And Muhammad Ali made a point of saying “I am the greatest!” as well. He said it loud. Then he proved it. Therefore, it is comparable to look at Mr. Ward – who hasn’t lost a boxing match since he was 12 years old – and wonder: Is it possible that through his actions, – and with his humility, and strength of character; sans blood, guts, and gore – that Andre Ward may be showing us the same thing? It is early days to tell. But the whole world is watching. Stay tuned!
